This plot of “Any card at any number” is almost TOO perfect:
A deck of cards is handed to a spectator. A card is named, along with a random position.
Without manipulating the deck, the magician takes the deck and counts to the named position. Not only is the named card at the chosen position, but then there are two surprises that no other routine allows: the next card is marked to indicate that this exact position will be named. But that’s not all! Show the deck to prove that no other card was present in the deck!
OCEAN stands for Only Card Exactly At Number, an ingenious idea by Las Vegas mentalist Colin McLeod, who has incorporated three highlights into a single effect.
