Inferno won an award in 2012: Best Trick of the Year. That’s not something you get unless it’s really, really, really good. Unfortunately, this routine is now hard to come by. But thanks to our partnership with Vanishing Inc., we were able to secure a small limited edition.

Watch the trailer for Joshua Jay’s Inferno and you’ll know enough! The idea behind this routine is very simple. A named card appears in a matchbox. Inferno includes the matchbox, the cards, and everything you need to perform the effect. It also includes a DVD featuring Joshua Jay explaining every step of the routine. It’s a thought-of-card routine using a matchbox, and the following points are important to know:

1. All you need to perform the trick is the box. Usually, for effects like this, you have a palmed card in your hand. With this routine, that’s not necessary. It’s super clean!
2. You don’t need any sleight of hand. Once you watch the DVD, you’re completely ready to perform the trick. There are a few things you need to remember, but technically, it’s a very easy trick.
3. Everything can be inspected at the end. Both the card and the matchbox can be handed over to the audience at the end of the routine.
4. Although it is presented in the demo as a close-up effect, it is also extremely suitable for parlor magic. There are no hidden angles that people aren’t allowed to see!
