The Routine:

An authentic Old English Penny is handed to a spectator to hold. The coin can be thoroughly examined and features a clear portrait of Queen Elizabeth II. It is explained that this coin is special because it was minted on the same day JFK was assassinated. The spectator holds the coin firmly in their hand.

Next, the magician shows a special Kennedy Silver Dollar, minted exactly 50 years after Kennedy’s assassination. This coin is examined from both sides and clearly displays the portrait of JFK.

The magician holds the silver dollar between his fingertips and makes a quick flick of his hand. Suddenly, the silver portrait of JFK changes into the copper head of Queen Elizabeth II, while the rest of the coin remains silver. Only the head has changed!

When the spectator opens his hand, the copper coin he was holding the whole time now appears to have a silver portrait of JFK where the Queen was before. The “hoofden” of the coins have switched places in a unique and surprising way.

Finally, both coins can be fully examined again.
