Grand Theft Sharpie isn’t a trick in itself, but a fun and humorous addition to your regular routine. Many routines involve a Sharpie to write down a word, number, someone’s name, or a signature. This is always a dull moment… but it can very easily be transformed into a moment of great audience reactions.

The effect:
the magician performs his trick. He has a spectator sign a card or other object. Just as he’s about to hand over the Sharpie, the magician asks where the spectator is actually from.
After the answer is given (for example, Oss
), you’ll see the magician start to panic slightly. “Oh no,” he says. The magician looks from the spectator to the pen and back to the spectator. He then puts the Sharpie back in his pocket and pulls a new Sharpie from his inside pocket, but this one is attached to a chain! The magician remarks: “tja, met mensen uit Oss [woonplaats], weet je het maar nooit!” Laughter from the audience is guaranteed! The trick can continue, and your dull moment is gone!
