Music is one of the most powerful art forms we have—imagine combining it with magic!

Effects:

1. You start by showing a music box and a piece of paper with a few holes in it. You start playing the music. People won’t recognize the music. Then you ask a spectator to think of a song. Next, as soon as the music box plays, they’ll hear the song they had in mind.

2. After your spectator has chosen a song, you introduce a strip of paper. The spectator may think of the song while you cut holes in the strip. You then place this strip into the music box, and the chosen song begins to play.

3. Show the spectator the music box and then play your favorite song. Next, ask a spectator to choose a song as well. The song they chose now plays on the music box from the same strip that played your favorite song.

4. In the fourth routine included with this effect, you make the spectator believe you’ve put a melody in their head that wasn’t there at all.

5. You place a prediction on the table and show a deck of cards with different songs and melodies written on them. You ask the spectator to choose 3 cards. Then you take the 3 chosen cards and lay them spread out on the table. You ask if it would be impressive to guess one of the three songs. You then demonstrate that your prediction was incorrect. However, you point out that there are holes in each of the chosen cards. You introduce the music box and place the chosen cards inside it. The music box then plays the prediction.
