When it comes to a trick where a drawing or a photo is transformed into a real object, we thought we’d seen it all—until the Pop Up Project demonstrated a revolutionary way to achieve this effect

The magician shows a bag containing some pieces of paper, each with a different word written on it. These papers are tossed onto a table, and the spectator chooses one (before this entire process, the magician would have shown an envelope with a prediction written on it). The spectator opens the chosen paper, and it reads “Boot”.

Then the magician takes out his prediction: a card.

When he reveals the card, a drawing magically begins to appear on its back, forming a 2D boat. Just when everyone thinks the magic is complete, the magician transforms this drawing into a real 3D boat, which can be handed over to the spectator to examine.
