In the early 19th century, the French magician Robert-Houdin introduced an iconic illusion: the Light and Heavy Chest. This demonstration was astonishing. He showed how one could completely disable—or, conversely, restore—a person’s sense of strength with just a single command.
TNT: Tear No Tear Deck
TNT, or the Tear No Tear Deck, is a brand-new, ultra-portable, and extremely practical modern interpretation of this legendary concept. But this is so much more than a trick. It’s a unique, unforgettable experience that brings together mind control, psychology, and impossible magic.
What happens?
You have a participant choose a random card. Then you simply ask them to tear the card in half. They try—but no matter how hard they pull, the card remains intact. At that very moment, you take the card back… and tear it effortlessly in half.
And that’s not all. Even with the torn pieces, they can’t do it. There’s no chance they can tear even a single part. You maintain complete control. You literally turn their power on and off—with the exact same card. No switches.

TNT was developed over five years and was performed by Dynamo in his 2023 and 2024 television specials. The trick requires no sleight of hand—just your imagination and the will to amaze. Perform it wherever and whenever you want, and make your audience question their own reality.

About the creation
Tear No Tear was independently created by Nicholas Lawrence and has been in development at theory11 since November 2020. Over the years, other effects with similar themes and methods have appeared, though none are identical to TNT’s gimmick and unique mass-production methods, as performed on television by Dynamo in December 2023 and December 2024.
